White Oak Plantation -- Part II
Excellent services will enhance your
visit
by Kevin Lee McIver
This is the second article of my series on
White Oak Plantation, one of the premier hunting lodges in the United
States.
This all-inclusive hunting experience
affords outdoors' enthusiasts the chance to bag their favorite game while
enjoying pure Southern hospitality.
What makes this a quality hunting package
is not only the trophy game management program at White Oak, but the
services provided by the owners, Robert and Hilda Pitman and their staff.
Quaint lodging, excellent meals, on-site
shooting range, transportation to-and-from the hunt, game retrieval and
game processing are included, leaving the guests to have a good time while
hunting.
I would describe lodging at this lodge as
rustic and comfortable. Guest rooms have two single beds and a private
bath, and unexpectedly are named after our favorite game animals. In fact,
I stayed in the "Squirrel" room which was adorned with little
stuffed critters on the walls.
This unique decor is supplemented with
hunting pictures, plaques and antique advertisements, setting the tone for
your hunting expedition.
Meals at White Oak are equally satisfying.
Wild game, soups, vegetables, fruits, homemade bread and some of the
tastiest desserts found anywhere ensure you never leave the table hungry.
Truly, every meal is worthy of praise, but
what makes each one special are the members of the staff whom dine with
you, providing interesting table-talk and discussions. Having guides,
trappers and others eating alongside reminds me of meals at my
grandparent's farm 30 years ago. Back then, friends and family would
feast on my grandmother's cooking, while talking about the topics of the
day. It's the same at the Pitman's.
White Oak Plantation offers incomparable
services for the avid deer, rabbit, quail or turkey hunter. Your chance of
taking a trophy animal are excellent, while at the same time enjoying the
best in Southern hospitality.
Above all, you can rest assured you will
return home with some great memories and fully satisfied. Give the Pitman's
a call at (334) 727-9258, you'll be glad you did. And maybe I'll see you
at one of the fine hunts next season.
