Elk -- Rocky Mountain High

These big rascals are very large deer. They have a brown-gray winter coat, which turns to red during the summer. They weigh from 600 to 1,000 pounds and stand 5 feet at the shoulder. Ten feet in length, a bull (male) elk's antlers grow up to five feet above it's head. Elk will eat grasses, trees and berries, among other vegetation.
